I take it that's how I logged on to the website at the beginning of
the week to find I had been subscribed to a TI-89 list? :-( I'd never
even seen a TI89!

Which I quite understand, but... not all Amiga users are militants, and=
I'm not sure the result of this poll will reflect reality.
Most average users like me have been "supporting" the Amiga for years,

No, you may as well buy an accelerator. For =A360 you can practically
increase your Amiga's speed by a factor of 10, and have an MMU and FPU,
plus the ability to have up to 32Mb of RAM (sold seperately, =A340 ish)
If you REALLY want to run Linux even THAT won't be good enough. 'tis
a slow beast at the best of times, and if a 40Mhz 030 can't hack it,
then damn well sure a 14.3Mhz 68EC020 won't.

The new amiga isn't exactly happening, is it? There is the BoXeR, but
won't that be using OS3.5 anyway?

That sounds a /bit/ like it's reporting the serial-modem speed and not
the connection speed to Free4All. If it is, add W2 to your modem init
string and that will make it report the connection to f4a.
Also, I'm sure Andy Sillwood would say this, but make sure you're using
the 0845 3003150 phone number. Personally, I've found that I can connect
to Free4All at the same speed as any of the other ISPs I use...

Hi,
I've just had a rather good idea for a game - RobotWars
Use your team's scrounging skills to collect materials for cheap
Design your robot by sticking components together
Use your team's building skills to make a solid robot in time
Operate your robot against the house robots and other computer
controlled 'bots
Compete against others over the internet
Battle through several rounds to win the prize
Make repairs/modifications to your robot in the intervals
unfortunately I have no idea how to go about programming this... =(
and the name Robot Wars would have to be changed as its property of
Mentorn (unless we can get thier backing?)
Can anyone help me with the coding (in a 'first name on the coder
credits' kinda way)

I wouldn't describe it like that. They put a huge varying splat during
the vertical sync period all right, which causes anything with
automatic gain, and sloppy DC restoration, to squash the vertical
syncs. This causes picture rolling, and a great big white hum bar as
the signal gets clamped to the wrong place.
VCRs, by and large, do record the frame in sync, but with such a
distorted picture it's unwatchable. They DON'T "not start" recording a
frame. Some do get the rolls, and record with an unlocked head phase
(you can see the switching point slowly drift up or down the picture
sometimes, or they just stay in the wrong place). But the entire frame
is recorded, warts and all.

Any semi-decent sync re-insertion device completely eradicates the crap
put in by Macrovision. They're not an uncommon device, video
production houses use them to fix up poor signals, and people have been
buying them for years to cope with damaged rental tapes which have tape
damage at the top or bottom of the tape, causing vertical sync
disruption.

the bit you snipped out. In other words, implying that it /will/ run on

Hi,
A while ago I purchased an external CNET 56k modem to use with my Amiga
and my PowerMac, the thing is intended for win crap but I thought I can
configure it to work with both machines, so far no problem with the Mac but
with the Amiga strange things happens ! I have tried everything but the
program keeps telling me that it can't find the DNS servers, and the line is
faulty (it's the same line that works the with the Mac I'm using to write
this ;) ), very strange the modem goes online and after the process of log
in, it gets stucked ! It's very weird, I've tried everything I added the
DNS servers primary and secondary addresses to Miami/setup/databases but
without luck.

Oi, Chris!
I'll have you know I spend out money left, right and centre on this
damn machine. And it *Is* left, right and centre cause everything
costs 1 1/2 times as much as stuff in the PC and MAC world.
Although, a nice big loan does help its soon gone on phone calls
(internet that is).
Stop generallising.

Subject: [afb] Strange IDE CD drive problem ....
Date: 22 Oct 99 14:18:18 +0000
Hello,
I have 4 devices connected to my IDE chain on my A4000, via the Eyetech
splitter. I am running IDEFix 97 too.
Whenever a program crashes, or I do a software reboot (eg LoadIDE doing a
reset), the CD drive (unit 3) and the hard drive on that chain (unit 2)
vanish. They only reappear when I do a physical (ie keyboard) reset.
Having tried it with a different CD drive, I've come to the conclusion that
it is this Creative 32x that is at fault. I'd rather not use my other CD
drive (which can only do audio at 1x over the data bus), so Iwas wondering
how to get this one to work properly.
Will cutting the RESET line on the cable going into the CD drive fix it?
Or do I need a software patch of sorts?
Kev
PS On a similar note, i'm using BlizKick 1.17 to softkick KS40.70 until I
get my ROMs (ordered to arrive with OS3.5), and after it resets my machine
everything just hangs! I have to do a reset to kick things back into
motion. Anyone know why?

If you're using a dos ftp, in a 32 bit os you need to eliminate the long
file names so its
"c:\my documents\home.html" (ie with quotes)
or
c:\mydocu~1\home.html

For the amiga, search Aminet for checkhtml, on the PC, check out
http://www.htmlvalidator.com or online, use http://validator.w3.org as
Matt pointed at above.
>Whats the best web page creator available (I got webplug off aminet but

Webplug is actually quite easy to use, but if you're not sure what
you're doing, can easily create bugged code. Personally, I use GoldEd
with the WWW plugin.
If you have to use a PC, then Notepad will do it, but you'll have to add
tags by hand which makes it more likely that you will add tipping
eerors. Otherwise, Arachnophilia http://www.arachnoid.com/arachnophilia/
is good and free...

OK, things are getting murky now. Four weeks ago I knew what I was
doing, saving for a top-grade PPC and BVision. Now phase5 say they're
building G4 cards and new graphics cards to go with them. So what do I
do? Wait till they arrive or just go for it? Added to that, according
to afb people seem to be having increasing problems with BVision, is
this just that the problems are surfacing in a minority of cases or
does it mean (as seems to be the case) that the cards are fundamentally
flawed?
Does anyone out there actually have a BVision+PPC set-up that works
fine, bar the inevitable teething problems? I ask merely because I'm
not about to throw my hard-earned wonga (three weeks in a tent for this
months pay!) after something that's going to fall over in a few months
time.
Also, has anyone heard from The World Foundry lately? E2260 is one game
that would make me forget my worries and splash out. The Amiga needs a
killer game to make the rest of the market sit up and take notice. The
PC market exploded on the back of fantastic(at the time) games like
Doom and Mechwarrior.

Or use CheckHTML (don't ask where to get it). This checks the code
against the DTD, so it's still definitive, but you don't need to upload
the pages to the server just to check them.

Go to a decent book store, like Waterstones, and browse their Computer
section. They'll have a hundred or so HTML books. Almost all of them
have the same basic information, the difference are in style, how deep
they go, how Windows-centric they are, and the price. Pick the one you
feel most comfortable with.
Or just buy the O'Reilly one, you can't reilly go wrong with their books :)

Hi All,
I've tried to access AFB in Egroups.com with V3,
Netscape and IE and had found troubles with
EGroups tables...
V3 does not lay out AFB properly?
I had found that Voyager2.96.7 and also Voyager3-Pre4,
makes a mess displaying the egroups messages if you
use the correct EGroups Site Address:
http://www.egroups.com/group/afb/32688.html?
But if you use the following Address (changing only
www for pix):
http://pix.egroups.com/group/afb/32688.html?
Egroups Display all Messages OK using pix. instead of
www.(with Voyager 2.96.7 and the New V3-Pre4).
I really don't know what is happening, but it Works!.
Anyone on the list knows???
Since EGroups had problems last month, I think that
the problem is with the Egroups-Site, and not with
Voyager3...

Phase5 kept distributors waiting for 23 weeks, then told them they'd

Eh?
Generic hardware (HD's, CD drives, monitors, keyboards, tower cases etc..)
are the same price.
Amiga specific hardware is, due to market forces, more expensive. We _know_
that. If you're an Amiga user in today's market, you accept that extra
expense, it comes with the territory. If you're gonna whinge about, move
over to the wintel or mac.

You just need the kernel and the base install. Install this and boot. Then
run the dselect package and you can choose which other packages you want.
It will automatically get them by ftp and install them for you. Neat, huh?

*buy* a book on HTML? theres enough online references that you can

Just like every other Unix on the planet! Yayyyy!
I don't have time anymore, 'cos I reckon I've got OS3.5 at
home to install! Horrrayyy! Who needs Debian, eh?
Yay!
(BTW the 15Mb or so for the base archive fits rather neatly

I do find it worrying that there seems to so many different
people and organisations trying to take the amiga in far
too many directions at once at the moment. It seems
like every week another group has a new plan with a
different processor, OS, bus, etc.
The OS problem was clearly caused by Amiga with their
wild chase through Exec, QNX, Linux, and now Amiga
Objects Running On Anything. But how many different
bus systems have come out in the last year? Ateo, Z4,
A1200 zorro, Boxer PCI. Surely they can't all survive, but
if they do, how is any software going to cope with the
different possibilities?

The server is case-sensitive. If you've uploaded HOME.HTML, you'll have
to specify that explicitly. If you give no page name, only the domain,
the server will look for home.html first and ignore the other page.

Unless the ISP is running really manky dialin servers, you should get
a similar connect speed with them all. Connect speed is mainly
determined by the state of the copper between you and the exchange.
Connect speed is pretty irrelevant anyway, you modem could retrain to a
lower speed two seconds after connecting. All that counts is throughput.
Another example of the irrelevance of connect speed. When USR released
V90 code for their modems, most U-NET subscribers using USR found they
got a slightly lower connect speed with V90, but *higher* throughput.
Because V90 uses more efficient compression.

Well there are three I can see so far:
Phoenix
Save The Amiga
Amiga (Inc.)
I don't count Amino as a valid effort, 'cos they mostly just
sponged off Phoenix and went their own way for some strange
reason. And I can't actually see Fleecy doing anything
worthwile.

Drivers. Nuff said. At the very least the BoXeR will have
a fairly decent set of drivers available by Christmas, as
will the Z4 systems (for the faster Z2 slots etc.). Any
properly programmed application will use these drivers and
devices rather than hard-coded AGA chipset defaults, so
you have nothing to worry about.
And then there's the prospect of the BoXeR actually being
used as a QNX development system via the Phoenix initiative,
once it gets a PPC card of course. The same goes for any
Amiga with a PPC, but only the BoXeR will have active PCI
slots making for a much cheaper and easier solution to
expansion hardware (given that I doubt QNX will be supporting
things like old Zorro cards..)
Same goes for Linux - there must be a few PCI drivers for
LinuxPPC for the Mac systems - these drivers will be pretty
much interchangeable with Amiga BoXeR systems.
Just let it pan out though, the plans that are obviously
flawed will soon fail, and the ones that are bound to
succeed will probably do so.
Don't put your bets on Open Source. Go with Amiga if you
like that kind of thing, and if you want to develop some
neat QNX apps, follow Phoenix (or get a PPC card, it's
much the same thing)

Try this:
ftp://ftp.de.debian.org/pub/debian/dists/slink/main/current/amiga/amigainsta
ll.lha
ftp://ftp.de.debian.org/pub/debian/dists/slink/main/current/common/base2_1.t
gz
They are the two files cited by the docs. Download those, and as Rich says,
it'll ask to download the rest of the packages once the base is installed.
They're a few megs though, be warned :)

Yes, but how many drivers? Drivers for different cards on
different busses for different OS's. It'll be worse than the
PC.

I do hope the Boxer is successful, and the Ateo bus and Z4
die off. I can't see some old bus cludged onto an A1200 ever
being that reliable. Nor do I think QNX running an Amiga
emulator will be that great.

It would be nice to think that were true but in the technology
market it seems that the opposite happens. Just look at the
PC hardware, MS-DOS, VHS/betamax, IDE/SCSI.

Open Source would be good, but I agree it's unlikely. I think
the best route at the moment is a Boxer running OS3.5.

I've never had anything but good service from Epic. They always tend to answer
emails I send them, and they are good at sending out products (and they've all
worked so far). If Guildhall Leisure is anything to go by, I don't think you
should blame the actual company, but the one person who gets the immensly

Personally, I think we should allow eGroups their problems. At least they've
got the basics sorted out, and these bugs can only be solved if people report
them. Maybe it was due to them upgrading their service or something. Either
way, at least they've got the basics, unlike that demonic service 'Onelist'

Hello all :)
Amiga Impact is a new website dedicated to the French-speaking Amiga
community. Well, new is maybe not the right word, as the site was already
known as "france.amiga.tm" ;). We currently provide a news service
(in French ;o) updated almost every day, and some French-speaking resources
(user-groups, resellers, ...).
With more than 800 visits per week (and it's still growing !), we are
one of the most visited French Amiga sites. So, if you have some news,
do not hesitate to contact us at info@amigaimpact.com. We also offer free
advertisement to Amiga developpers, resellers, magazines....
For more info, do not hesitate to visit our tiny english section of
the site, or contact us via email (info@amigaimpact.com) !

Yes I have a ppc+Bvis and it works very well. The main problem that I
had was getting cgfx to work and I had a dodgy monitor switcher. It is
stable even with a 160ppc+040!!!!

So did I!!! I spoke to eyetech today, who have no replacement stock,
nor do Phase5. I was told to return it to them, who would return it to
Phase5 for repair and then chase them on my behalf, which seems like
good service to me, assuming that it is fixable :-( However, the
downside to this is that it's costing me =A330 to eyetech for a "handling
charge," which probably won't include what Phase5 may charge to fix it.
Fingers crossed, otherwise I'm left with a BVision and 32Mb of RAM
with nothing to plug them into, and an A1200 with 2Mb chip and and 020.
I can't understand how people could use an Amiga this unexpanded
(although I did use an A600 with 2Mb chip and a 20Mb HD for a while -
painful!). I'm having to write this using my work laptop directly on
the egroups site, as I don't have enough RAM to run Genesis and YAM
simultaneously.
BTW My Blizzard was previously recognised by the early startup menu, at
least I think it was. I'm hoping it's just the RAM that's failed,
which may explain why the 040 still works but nothing else does, as the
PPC and BVision both require fast RAM to operate - not sure about the
SCSI.
Anyway, here's hoping for a safe and working return for my card.
Thanks for all replies

I remember seeing an advert/preview thing in a magazine a couple of
months ago about a video which lets you watch TV programmes and record
them at the same time in different places. It was like a big, fast
hard drive. You could record 15 minutes of a programme and then start
watching it while the rest of the programme gets recorded and you can
watch it all as if it was live, only 15 minutes after everyone else.
You could therefore watch a whole day's programme schedule whenever
you want.
Now /that's/ time shifting!
Can anyone confirm/expand on this?

Files in :.backdrop only appear on the backdrop if they're in there
before the workbench screen opens, so it won't be possible, will it?
Unless you force the screen to close and then open again - not very

Active received the NC3 CDs today, so most of the pre-orders should go

Ask BT if you've got DACS on the new line. If so, demand that they
remove it.

I was wondering how big is Amiga in Germany, there seems to be alot of Amiga
companys over there and of course the europe headquaters is there.
Someone did say to me that there are more Amiga users than PC users in
Germany but i never believed him at the time (and still dont), could anyone
tell me the real size of the German Amiga Community? Maybe compared to the
the British Amiga Community?

Yes the hard drive and compression routines are being expanded so that
a whole *MONTH* of recording can be saved. Plus they are giving the
drive brains in the fact that if you always watch StarTrek then it
will save this and *ANY* other related programs like B5 or if you
always watch the News at 11pm then it will record Newsnight etc etc.
In the immediate future look out for the ORB drive - sounds good.

The bank is the one that charges the 3% actually (I used to take credit
cards selling computers.)
I don't recall paying an extra 3% when I ordered from Eyetech.. I'll have to
look at my reciepts.
Either way.. Eyetech has had the BEST customer support in my dealings so I'd
buy from them (If I weren't buying from North American dealer Software Hut.)

I know that two accurate answers have already been given ( "yes", and

Hmmm... this happens on the files on the CD? For example, does this
happen when clicking +System/Info/AFCD_Survey.txt?

Well, nothing on the AFCD makes any reference to IDer - I'm 100% sure
about that. Send me (privately, not to the list) your ENV:AFCD.prefs file

I think it could be something to do with the NewIcons package which does it,
or some other tool which gives files of a certain type which don't have icons
a default action.

You'll need more than a 68k as well! There's no image decoder for 68K, its

Well, yeah, I was thinking the same thing: DefIcons. But, I don't see
how that can affect files on the CD that actually have icons, as they'll
call AFCDView.

Hi
Has anyone here actually bought an FG24 digitiser from Analogic at

the images? If so, can you contact me privately as I'm still having
trouble getting a descent working one from them. I've had 3
replacements (so they say) so far, and they all have the same problem
- 50-100 horizontal lines spoiling the picture. They're on the
previews, grabs and renders. I've tried them all on my three Amigas -
one of them is totally unexpanded. Any help appreciated.

Nope. Only to files that have no 'information' associated with them
such as a Default Tool. i.e. Iconless files. An example file would be
almost any file on the Aminet CDs.
Odd thing is, my Miggy seems to change its mind and sometimes just come
up with the filename on its own (i.e. no ":C/StartIDer" in front of it.)

Maybe I misunderstood your original question, but this has nothing to
do with AFCDPrefs. Your AFCDPrefs settings will only be used if files
have a .info file associated with them, and if their default tool is set
to AFCDView.
It sounds to me as if you're running DefIcons, which is what is bringing
up the Execute command window with iconless files. Check the def_#?.info
files in ENVARC:sys - you will probably find that the default tool for
def_ascii.info is set to :C/StartIDer.

You don't seem to get it. The REASON Eyetech charges the 3% is BECAUSE the
bank puts a 3% charge on Credit card purchases. At least in "Keyed"
transactions (The type where they don't swiped your card through the
machine, they just punch in the numbers) I used to sell computers retail and
accept credit cards and that's how it works. Some stores eat the loss of
entering credit card sales.. but it's still the banks charge...
It's too early in the morning for me to have to educate you any further so
please just figure it out.

Subject: [afb] corrupted amiga video output and a general query
Date: Sat, 23 Oct 1999 09:21:21 -0700
I wonder if anyone out there has experience with the following problem.
The display output of my A1200 often flickers and gets corrupted (and
on occasion blacks out) and then corrects itself within a second
whenever I acccess any IDE device or use any menus.
The corruption looks like software is writing random data to the chip
mem, and then restoring things back again the next screen update. The
effect is rather like a poorly encoded mpeg video stream.
Its intermittent, indeed I've got it running on the other monitor now
and sometimes (as in now) its rock steady while accessing the HD or the
menus, but when I started typing this posting in it was flickering like
mad.
The flicker happens on all video outputs, though by default I am using
Productivity on an SVGA monitor.
As far as I can tell, none of my cables are loose.
For details of hardware and software I use, please look at :-
http://www.free0033124.free4all.co.uk/amiga/amiga2.html
Any ideas?
------------
Bearing in mind the age of the machine (I got it the year the A1200 was
first released), I suppose what I'd really like to do is retire it with
grace and get a new Amiga (and start all over again).
Are there any more up to date alternatives to my A1200 that are more
thn just a rumour (as you can imagine, I was really hoping that there
would be a MCC). I am particularly interested in ATX sized motherboard
alternatives. That Amiga on a PCI card that Access Innovations mention
but seem to be doing nothing about (last time I looked was 3 weeks ago)
would be my ideal solution, getting both machines back in to the same
case.

The same thing happens here too, but only when I start it via NC3. I
had V3-pre4 downloaded and installed under demo mode before I got NC3,

Well, mine is now installed after a rather bizarre 10 mins. I loaded 3.1
first, no problem, but when it rebooted the system my CD drive could no
longer be seen. I reinstalled SquirrelSCSI but this didn't work. Out of
desperation I went upstairs to dig out my OS3.0 disks in the hope of booting
from that with the CD drive, and when I returned, the CD drive had
miraculously sprung into life all on it's own and has worked fine ever
since. Truly bizarre. I have to say it's SO much better. Anyone who hasn't
got it or isn't sure yet go get it! My BVision displays work better too (I
never used to get true colour backdrops to the same quality as I do now.
Whether this is OS3.5 inspired or just me I'm not sure). Needed a crane to
get the bloody kickstart ROMs out though!

Good evening!
Something silly is happening to me. I was trying to type a nice
signature just to act like everyone else, when I suddenly found out that
I had completely forgotten how to enter escape commands using a text editor.
I remember what each number means ( 1 for bold, 3 for italic etc. )
but I have no idea which keys to press : *e[1mshit! plainly appears
as *e[1mshit, that's all !
I did that for years without thinking, and I swear I'm not drunk

8hrs still isn't bad. 'Normal' videos don't usually take more than

Some early etymological scholars come up with derivations that were
hard for the public to believe. The term 'etymology' was formed from
the Latin 'etus' ("eaten"), the root 'mal' ("bad"), and 'logy'

I received my OS3.5 and KS3.1 yesterday, when I put the roms in I got
a lovely purple screen (not the insert disk screen) and my A1200 not

I tracked the problem down to my Viper Mk 2 030 28Mhz (The original

simm...
If I take the simm out it boots fine. (I'v try'd other memory BTW)
Just wondering has anyone else had problems with ks3.1?

It's your Viper, i also had the same accelerator in my A1200, and had the
same problem with KS3.1.
According to the dealer ,who sold it to me, the ROM on the Viper needs to
be replaced by a newer one.
It was for me too much of a hassle to send it of and it probally would cost
me more then the whole accelerator.
I gave it to my little brother, after i bought a secondhand A4000.

Well, if pressing the escape key itself doesn't insert the escape code
into your text, then you can often use the equivelent control key and
left square bracket key combination. Though that's usually a direct
key combination equivelent (which means if pressing escape didn't work,
this probably will be ignored too).
Another option is to write in the (fairly widely) accepted control key
character combination, of putting the carat symbol in the text to
represent control plus the key it's pressed with.
So bold being escape left square bracket 1 m, you could write it in as
^[[1m (using the scheme I just described).
If you're using Ed, it won't allow the escape code to be put into a
document, as it uses that key for internal functions. Even if you load
in a pre-edited document with escape codes, it removes them. So this
is the only way to do it with Ed that I remember.
Whether you can use ^[ for escape, or *e[ (which I've never tried, by
the way), is up to what ever will display the end result. Some ANSI
viewers will ignore these equivelents.

I can't resist this... Over here, at least, Daks are a brand of
underwear. So you're going to ask them to take their Daks off?

Are you talking about sending from multiple addresses, or collecting
mail from different mail boxes?
To send from a different address, you can either set up multiple
configurations (multiple users), or just change the FROM address in the
options of the e-mail editor before sending the message.
To download mail from various servers, open the config to the TCP/IP
page, in the receive mail section, press new, and enter the server
name, the user ID and password for each account.
The active button means that this address will be checked when you get
mail (otherwise you have to check this mailbox individually from a
menu).
Login using APOP is an alternative protocol (which doesn't work for me,
despite other mailer programs work (on the same ISP).
Delete mail on server should be selected, unless you are downloading
mail that you will also download (and delete) on another computer later
on (e.g. checking work mail now, but also at work).
I'm sure that if your different addresses were all at the same server,
you'd configure it the same way (i.e. make a complete entry for each
address, even though you keep typing in the same server name).
For more help, you can join the YAM mailing list (it has nowhere near
the amount of mail this mailing list has, so you won't get swamped).

Tim. (B.A. T.L.M.N.)

A DACS unit multiplexes two lines over one copper pair, if the DACS
only has
one line on it you may be lucky and get it deshared. If it has two
lines (the
other line could be feeding a neighbour) then you will probably come up
against
a brick wall as it is BTs policy not to make any alterations to the
network at
its own expense for modem use. As far as BT is concerned a phone line
is for
speech, if you want fast data transfer you should have ordered
something like
an ISDN2E or Home Highway. DACS is an Oftel approved method of phone
service.
It is worth asking how much it would cost you to pay to be deshared as
it
depends on why it was put in, it could be thousands or it could be less
than
=A3100.
Can anyone guess who I work for?
I wish you luck in your battle with BT, it does depend on whether the
person
looking at your order follows the rules or not (lets hope they don't
and you
get deshared).
Chris
PS A DACS unit works at 144K transfer rate, its a shame you can't just
plug a
modem straight into it!

The same bandwidth as ISDN, 2 x 64K + 16K. And it gives the same number
of lines, do they use the same technology? There was also a story
floating around that the analogue lines on Home Highway are DACS'd. It
would explain why I only get a 31200 connect when I try to use an
analogue modem with it.

It's not using the 0845 line, it's using the 01925491112 line and the
0800 number. It's not free, but you don't pay for it.
Or are you worried that Miami may have failed to connect on 0800 and
fallen back to 0845? This is a real concern, although it's not happened
yet, so I wrote a script to check Miami's dial log file immediately
after connecting. It puts up a requester if the number you connected to
doesn't start "0800".
Any Wirenet subscriber using Miami can mail me for a copy, I'll clean it
up later, add Genesis support, and put it on the web site.

Nah, that's not how these 'infinite' email address systems work.
You see, if we sent an email to BippyM@Stingent.freeserve.co.uk then a=
ll the freeserve server looks at is the @Stingent.freeserve.co.uk, you co=
uld replace the BippyM with /anything/ and it'd still arive in your email=
box.
Therefore, when people send an email to AmPCSReg@stingent.freeserve.co=
=2Euk it'll end up in your email box anyway, it'd just say 'To: AmPCSReg@=
stingent.freeserve.co.uk' instead. If you liked you could set up a filte=
r to move all of these to their own folder.
These so called infinite email addresses are a bit of a fiddle eh? The=
re basically the same address...
See ya :)

Help
I have just installed a Power Computing 4 way IDE buffered interface in my
towered A1200 and on putting everything back together it all works, except
the floppy drives, both DF0 & DF1.
This makes it a little difficult to install the EIDE'99 software.
When I turn on the DF0 drive access light comes on and stays on but when
a disc is inserted, the drive doesn't spin.
The DF1 drive is connected to the external drive port and appears to be
completely dead, no light and no spin!
Can anyone shed any light on why the drives don't work.
